Misty began her healthcare career 16 years ago in the U.S. Army as Combat Medic. Soon after her service in the military, she made her way to the Permian Basin. She has served the community in various roles for the past twelve years, such as EMT-Basic, Paramedic, EMS Instructor, Emergency Department Nurse, and the Director of Fire and EMS at Odessa college.
Misty's Journey to Nurse-Midwifery began in the summer of 2017 after finding a passion for women's healthcare and helping families have more options in their care. Misty attended her CNM program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, with the bulk of her clinical internship at a birth center in the DFW area, trained by excellent Nurse-Midwives in prenatal care and out-of-hospital birth. The remainder of her clinic and birth internship training took place in local physician offices and the labor and delivery units in the hospitals of Odessa.
Misty has a wonderful, supportive husband, they share two boys. One son was born in a hospital attended by a CNM and one was born at home attended by a CPM. Misty has a passion for individualized and empowering care. She believes that every family deserves a midwife.
